The fever wracks through my body. I'm wearing two jumpers and am hidden under my covers, but still I am cold.
My hair is damp with sweat; I feel like in this one day I've grown old.
My head pounds and I feel dizzy, I try to sit up but I fall back.
My eyes feel like they're burning and my skull feels like it's cracked.
My throat feels like it's being scratched by some spiky, evil thing.
My plight is worsened by the fact that the phone begins to ring.
Its piercing shrill offends my ears, my head splits into two.
My pupils widen and my head does burst as the noise travels right through.
Now I feel too hot but I shiver still and stay.
This terror of a fever shall not claim my mind today.
While it infuses my body it can't get inside my head.
Soon the time will come for it to bother someone else instead.
