The Color Of Hunger

The the color of hunger might be brown,
Like dirt or tree bark
Or tan, like
Sahara sand

It might be green,
The color of plenty
'water water everywhere
But not a drop to drink'

Or maybe red,
The color of war
Of passion, of love and fear
The color of a flush on
Pale cheeks

But you know what I think?
I think hunger is yellow,
Like dried up grass,
Like plaid skin, reminiscent
Of scurvy
The color of sickness

The whole word should be yellow
Because the whole world is sick
Sick with hunger
Sick with gluttony
Sick with greed and ignorance

Ungrateful

We are given a heart. We are given a mind. We are given only the power. To use one at a time. We are given the option. Of peace and of war. The former of which. We often ignore.
