The olympics are coming to its end. Blood, sweat, tears, glory, courage and dedication will soon be recaps.
I have never been a fan of sports, but the Olympics is a competition about so much more than just the prestige of winning.
And it got me thinking. The olympics is a competition between the most successful of athletes.
But it also reflects everyone's life.
Because everyone's life is like the olympics. We all need courage to step out into the world, for everyone to see and make the best out of it that we can. To realize that just being in it, is in itself an incredible achievement. We may have to jump over hurdles, throw punches to stay on our feet, calibrate and evaluate our goal, run along the track of our dreams and sail with the wind of our intuition.
There is only one who can win the gold in an olympic final. Some come last, some get disqualified, but they all try. Tries to show what they're made of. Prove something to themselves and the world around them.
The good thing about this is: in our personal olympics, we only have ourselves to compete with.
And we don't always come out as the winner. Sometimes fear, insecurity and doubt beats you to the finish line and comes out as number one. But you will eventually get there, and the harder you fight and ignore your competition, the more likely you are to get to the finish line first.
It's important to remember that although you don't always come first, you are still part of the game. You are selected as one of the best.
So jump over the hurdles of doubt, sprint away from your dark past, punch until you have defeated fear and jump over the bar of expectation.
Don't be a spectator to your own game. Be in it, and fight until you are the winner. The more medals you have around your neck, the more courage and confidence you will have. And you will always be the champion. The legend to your own olympics.
