Chapter 9
Disbelief
With Amber and Lily, I hurried to the other side of the field. Amber looked furious.
"How could she put that!? Evil, just evil...I mean who would do that to their best friend, unbelievable...it's not..." Amber was muttering, as we walked.
I nodded my head and agreed with her as she talked, I wasn't really listening, I was thinking about other things.
"Let's sit here," Lily suggested, when we reached the corner of the field.
I nodded and sat down, staring at the floor.
"Um...Scarlett?" I heard Amber whisper.
I looked up in surprise, and frowned at her, waiting for an answer.
"Look, I'm really sorry about Paige, I had no idea that she'd put all of that, I feel awful," Amber told me in the same tone.
"It's ok, it's not your fault," I emphasised the word your.
She nodded and stared across the field at Paige, she gasped in shock as she noticed who Paige was with. She was with Poppy Anderson, only the most horrible girl in school. My heart filled with vengeance as I glared at her.
"I-the traitor!" Lily growled, her eyes filling with tears of anger.
"I'm gonna go-" Amber began, but I put my hand on her shoulder holding her back.
"We shouldn't start anything, just ignore her," I whispered.
Amber relaxed slightly, yet she still glared at Paige with her eyes sparking with anger.
The next thing surprised me so much, I nearly stopped breathing. Paige waved at us, smiling sweetly then stuck her tongue out as us.
"THE-" Amber raged, standing up.
This time I didn't stop her, she ran towards Paige, who automatically jumped up.
Me and Lily exchanged startled looks, before jumping up and running after her.
"HOW DARE YOU!" Amber shrieked, shaking.
"You know these losers?" Poppy asked, flicking her hair behind her.
"Um...yeah...they USED to be my friends, but now, ugh..." Paige told her dramatically, rolling her eyes.
Poppy smirked and raised her eyebrows at us, I scowled at her.
Suddenly, Lily stormed towards Paige and slapped her on her cheek. Paige screamed and put a hand to the fresh, red mark on her cheek. I clapped my hand over my mouth, disbelief pushing all other emotion out my body. Amber smiled, and patted Lily on the back, while Poppy put her arm around Paige. It was all so confusing.
"Whoa, what happened?" Leon asked, strolling towards us, grinning.
"Paige is a traitor, and Lily slapped her," I explained.
Leon looked lost, and raised an eyebrow at us.
"The email she sent you..." I muttered.
Leon looked shocked and turned red from embarrassment, I heard him mutter 'sorry' under his breath. I nodded as a reply.
"Hi Leon!" Paige and Poppy said in very Girly voices.
"Uh...hi...anyway I was wondering if you wanted to see a movie tonight Scarlett?" Leon asked, looking hopeful.
I was prepared to answer the same as usual, 'no', but something was stopping me. I liked him, the email he sent, annoying Paige, it was the perfect plan.
"Sure," I smiled.
I heard Paige, Poppy, Lily and Amber gasp in shock. Paige and Poppy looked like they could throw something and Lily and Amber looked very smug. Leon grinned and looked like he could shoot through the clouds with joy.
"Wow, dreams really do come true...meet me after school at the gates," Leon practically laughed.
I nodded as I walked away with Lily and Amber who were smiling at me.
"Well, well, well..." Lily giggled.
"Oh, be quiet!" I teased.
Just then, the bell rang and I made my way to my next class.
