That heavy beat of silence,
When someone dares to ask:
'What do you want for Christmas?'
It's an awkward, must-do task.
No one wants to ask for lots,
So how far should one go?
When someone asks this to your face,
Just take it rather slow.
My usual answer? 'I don't mind.'
Unless it's Mum or Dad...
Or even 'Oh you don't have to...'
Like I am feeling bad.
Everyone loves gifts and cheer,
But buying them's a strain,
And asking what they want this year,
Goodness, what a pain!
