For a moment this world seems perfect,
As you kiss me on the cheek.
We share a second, knowing,
That we do not need to speak.
And then you go and ruin it,
You leave my room, so fast.
Leave me to naivety-
It wasn't meant to last.
I turn from you towards the wall,
Pull my quilts so tight.
I'll remember how you showed some love,
In my dreams tonight.
Replaying this little snatch of 'nice',
I know it will run out.
And then I'll hear your normal way:
The echo of your shout.
A little bit of paradise,
You made this memory.
This moment I would freeze in time:
Just you, the kiss, and me.
