Who Am I? Part 27

We collided with each other in the middle of the car park. I was winded but ignored it, any human contact at the minute was good, breathing in his familiar Lynx Africa he always wore as I buried my face in his neck my arms wrapped tightly around him. His arms wrapped around me even tighter keeping me on my feet as I felt my knees buckle beneath me.
I pushed my face further into him and cried a little bit more, after what I had been through I thought I'd be allowed to cry for as long as I wanted.
"Shush baby please" he whispered kissing my ear and pushing his face in my hair breathing in deeply. I felt his hands shake as he clutched me around my waist and across my shoulders.
"Lewis" I choked out shakily pushing a hand in the back of his hair knotting my fingers up in there, keeping him close.
"Delilah" he replied just as shakily rubbing his nose against the corner of my jaw below my ear.
"If you let go of me, I'm going to fall" I whispered, making him chuckle lightly.
"If you think I'm going to let you go anytime soon you're completely wrong" he assured me "You're not going out of my sight let alone my arms don't you worry" he tightened his arms around me.
"I love you" I said louder this time, more sure of my voice.
"I love you too. I died a thousand deaths while you were gone, me and Eddie"
"Don't die. Don't leave me" I whispered urgently unable to keep more tears at bay. I squeezed my eyes shut in hope to lose that image of death but it didn't work; it just made it worse.
"I won't, trust me I'm going nowhere" his voice brought me back "I'm never leaving you"
"Not even for someone... Less complicated?" I asked incredulously
"No never, where would the fun be in that?" He replied kissing my closed eyes and the tears away. I blinked them open watching him closely, he smiled as he saw my eyes open and he placed his forehead against mine. His eyes were watery and full of relief.
"Never going to leave me?" I repeated his words, he smiled again and shook his head keeping our foreheads touching.
"It's going to be me and you, forever or always; whichever's longest" he shrugged as he said the last part and made me giggle a little.
"Soppy sod" I cried again, he pressed his lips to mine quickly. His kiss had an air of urgency, desperation like it was the last time we'd see each other.
When we finally pulled away, we were both breathing deeply. He wiped my eyes with the pad of his thumbs.
"Don't cry please" he whispered I smiled a little then went up on my tiptoes hands on his chest and kissed him but it was cut short as I heard an unfamiliar voice try to gain my attention. We pulled away and I looked over to where the voice had come from. A young woman stood there looking at me oddly then a faint smile appeared on her face.
"Delilah?" She asked her eyebrows knotting together. I looked to Lewis who was watching me closely. She said my name again and came closer.
"Who are you?" I asked pressing myself into Lewis weary of anyone new although she looked kind enough.
"I'm Hannah, I'm your sister. Well step sister" she introduced herself pushing a strand of blonde hair behind her ear.
"Oh... Hi" I said not knowing what to say, words failing me again.
"Hannah what do you think you are doing?" Another unfamiliar voice commanded, Hannah rolled her hazel and green eyes in annoyance turning to a man who must've been in his early forties looking impeccable hardly disheveled like Eddie and Lewis.
"I am talking to my sister what do you think you are doing?" She retorted
"I'm her father I should speak to her first" he stated with an air of authority, my mouth dropped open as I stared at him.
"You?" I asked disgustedly clutching at Lewis' shirt as my legs began to wobble "Are not my father. A sperm donor at best" I told him
"Look Delilah you're coming with me-"
"I'm not going anywhere with you" I interrupted his face was like thunder "If you think you're going to put me through all of this, be nonexistent for seventeen years and then expect me to go with you at a drop of a hat you are severely delusional"
"NOW LISTEN HERE I AM-" He shouted at me but I interrupted him once more
"I COULDN'T GIVE A FLYING RATS ARSE WHO THE HELL YOU ARE!" I shouted back louder "GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS AND LEAVE FOR, I DON'T KNOW, ANOTHER SEVENTEEN YEARS? BETTER YET BE NONEXISTENT LIKE I THOUGHT YOU WERE!"
"You heard her. Get away from her" Eddie stated menacingly gripping his shoulder and pulling him backwards.
"I-I'll get you for kidnapping!" He yelled clutching at straws
"Come off it Daniel, it's in black and white I'm her guardian you personally signed her over to me to look after now GET LOST! Before I have to make you" Eddie growled
"Can I finally drop Redgrove?" Hannah asked looking up to Eddie
"Sure" he nodded
"BOOM! Yes! Oh sorry no offence but I'm a Dean through and through right dad?" She fist bumped Eddie grinning like a Cheshire Cat as he ruffled her hair laughing a little.
"Could I change my name?" I asked quietly.
"Delilah Dean? It suits... Can I call you DeeDee?" Hannah asked cocking her head slightly.
"DeeDee? No sorry just Dee then yeah sure" I shrugged smiling a little.
"Cool!"
"I was thinking more Delilah Aesom but you can't win them all" Lewis whispered into my ear making me grin for the first time.
"Not now but one day, one step at a time" I replied and it made him smile broadly
"Good" he breathed and I shivered stepping closer to him putting my arms around him underneath his suit jacket. He removed it and put it around my shoulders. I slipped my arms in and snuggled back against his chest.
"Can we go in now I'm freezing?" Hannah asked impatiently tapping her foot maybe because of the cold or through impatience.
"Yeah come on" Eddie put his arm around his daughters shoulders towing her in while Lewis gently picked me up and carried me in as I didn't trust my legs.
Once inside we were met with a buzz of activity, there were people walking in and out bustling about, on phones and pens scratching manically against the paperwork ladened on the desks.
"Hey good to see you're back where you belong" an officer came up to us smiling, when I saw him I instinctively pushed myself against Lewis and tried to move as far away from him as possible. It was strawberry blonde.
"Don't worry Delilah he's an undercover cop" Eddie explained shaking his hand. I knew he looked too kind to be a part of that group.
"I'm sorry I couldn't do more" he apologised sincerely
"I'm sorry about the whole..." I gestured to his face "... Yeah sorry"
"Don't worry missis still loves us" he winked and chuckled "Well back to the old rat race, Delilah we need you to make a statement, do you feel up to it now?" He asked
"No but I may as well" I sighed "Can these guys come in with me?"
"No I'm afraid not" he answered
"Please" I pleaded
"It would have to be your guardian" he nodded to Eddie, I gripped Lewis's hand as he softly huffed in annoyance. "It won't take long I promise" he smiled at Lewis before leading me through the throng of officers towards the interrogation room.
