I sit at my desk, doing homework. Searching on my computer. I can't wait to go to sleep, but that might be tommorrow. Or the next day. I think it's around midnight. I have no idea, really. All I know is that it's late and my parents should let me go to bed and do my homework in the morning. It's so dark in the ofice that I can't see anything but the glow of my computer screen. I really should turn on a light. It's kind of creepy down here. I want to go to bed right now. But I have to stay down here all night. But I keep hearing noises. And-What is that!?
I hear a voice. Whispering. "Leave." I think that's what it says. I turn around and see nothing. I hear something clatter to the ground. I need to turn on a light. Right now.
I stumble over to the wall, feeling my way to the light switch. Where is it? My hand glides over a smooth square of plastic. The light.
I flip it on. On the floor lies a knife. I'm guessing that's what fell to the ground. As I walk back to my desk, I hear something that makes me freeze in my tracks. Another whisper. "Acacia. I..." I can't make out the rest. But I hear my name. And I'm pretty sure that's a sign that something's wrong.
"What?" My voice trembles, "What?"
"I know. I know everything about..." The voice trails off. I think it meant to say "you".
I walk slowly to my desk and sit down. I look up more information on the atom. I hear something clatter to the ground again. The knife moved. It moved closer to me. It's only around a foot closer, but it moved.
This is getting freaky.
The knife shakes a little and rises into the air. It only rises one inch and immediately falls with a bang. "What is this?" My hands are trembling now.
"Acacia. Acacia..." The voice says my name melodiously. Like it's singing. "You need something better."
I slowly back out of the room and open the door. Once I'm outside, my pace quickens to a run. I sprint outside and sit down. I try to sleep out here. I don't want to go back into that house.
