So you think you know me,
Because you've seen me on tv?
Well I apologise, for all those lies
I'm not what you think you see.
The Silver Screen is mysterious
My performances drive you delirious!
But it's the tricks from hollywood flicks
That make acting so serious
It's a ridiculous business, living this way
Skilful deceit makes the audience pay
So people can fluster for the latest blockbuster
For an action packed everyday!
I'm not just the girl with pretty features
Or the hero fighting vicious creatures
I'm not even real so what's the big deal?
For hiding the truth, I'm a preacher!
So you can see through my disguise
Through the pathetic miserable cries
Woe in the scene, but its not what I mean
When I yell out in surprise!
My scripted emotions flicker in sight
Radio waves traveling, sending light
Pixels form faces and faraway places
Turning beautiful daytime to night
So as an actor, I'm not how I seem
I'm different to who you see in your dreams
Not riding a dragon, or drinking a flagon
Or throwing a pie filled with cream
Not a TV villain, that's not my life
That beautiful actress isn't really my wife
I'm a man just like you, with a job to do
Not some madman wielding a knife.
So think again about how you feel
When you only see what I want to reveal
I won't repent, my life is content
Lying about what is real.
