My heart,
Though broken,
Stubbornly insists on
Beating on, pumping life
Into my veins, when all
I want is for them to lie
Open, empty, red pool
Of what used to be
Me. But my heart,
Though broken,
Insists on
Beating
On.
My heart
Should just give
Up, flatline, no regular
Bump-bump-bump on the
ECG, instead I'm stuck in a
Living death between each
Sticky-thump, a crushing
Hollow pain, cracking
Ribs, piercing lungs;
A heart attack of
Desperate and
Unrequited
Love.
My heart,
Though broken,
Stubbornly insists on
Beating on,
And on,
And on.
