It was just a bit of harmless, creepy fun when it all started. Reading this blog, you're probably thinking exactly like I did back then, that it's just a story, a harmless hoax. A joke. Except its not. You already know too much, I'm painfully aware that I'm putting you in danger just by talking about him. But I don't know what else to do
It was a week after I had started my project that I started to get that feeling. You know, the 'goosebumps-hairs-raised-I'm-being-watched' feeling. I was at work, at the garden centre, outside in the late September sunshine, when I saw someone out of the corner of my eye, moving among the saplings and shrubbery. Someone tall. And thin. I laughed out loud to myself; I was obviously imagining things. I had to be. Small shovel in hand, I walked down to towards the trees with an air of overconfidence. I wasn't scared. No. Not scared. Of course, there was nothing to be found except fallen leaves and soil. No evidence that anyone was ever there. See, nothing to be scared of.
But I couldn't shake that feeling. All day I worked with one eye towards the trees. I was relieved when it was finally time to go home. Just after closing time, Mark, my manager, called us all into the staff room. He explained how the security cameras were having problems, losing sound and sometimes images for minutes at a time, so to keep our eyes open for any suspicious shoppers. I didn't make the connection at first. I didn't even think about the Slender Man and how he seems to affect technology. Now it makes sense, of course, after what happened to Sarah.
