Slender: Entry One

22/11/12

I've started this blog as a last resort. In case the worst happens. So people will know why I've disappeared. I don't know what else to do except keep a record of everything that's happened. Maybe it will serve as a warning. I don't know, it's hard to think straight. I haven't slept for days now. I can't. I won't.

I better start at the beginning.

Six weeks ago I started a project. I'm taking an evening class in media and creative writing in an attempt to finally turn my hobby into a career. God knows I can't keep working at the garden centre for the rest of my life. It seems a degree gets you nowhere these days. I must admit, when my tutor set the project I was pretty excited - researching the origins and development of an urban legend sounded more like fun than a college project. My first thoughts, of course, were to use the Internet - how else to urban myths get created and distributed in this technological age? So, I started delving into the forums and feeds of the web, looking for something usual. Something that could, if you suspended disbelief for a moment, be real. Something creepy. I'm a sucker for horror films.

I stumbled upon 'Marbled Hornets' by chance, mentioned in a thread on a now defunct urban legends forum. I spent a good few hours watching the YouTube feed, thinking it was the perfect topic for my project. The Slender Man; an urban legend created entirely on the net, which has grown and developed somewhat of a cult following. The YouTube videos are pretty creepy, even when you are fully aware they are just fictional, by the admission of the creators.

Armed with the spark of an idea, I started doing a little research into the beginnings of the myth and the traditional origins that had created it. I never thought it would spiral into this, this fear and chaos. I mean, it's just an urban legend, right? It's not real.

It's not.

It can't be.

@Jamtots it scares the crap out of me, don't know why I'm doing this to myself! 😁

Is this a piece of your own fiction, or a real blog about a piece of of fiction, or a blog about a piece of fiction that is in actuality real but pretends to be fiction to trap people, or a blog that pretends to be fiction but in actuality.. Etc πŸ˜‰πŸ‘ whatever it is, I'm hooked.. Tell me more πŸ˜ƒ

Now I'm intrigued too. πŸ˜€

I'm hooked tag me please I love your stories πŸ˜πŸ‘

@Burrfoot confused.com πŸ˜‚

@Burrfoot haha! There is a real YouTube feed called marbled hornets - it's a fictional horror story about 'the slender man'. This blog is entirely fictional, my own work. It all pretends to be real to scare people. Look up slender man if you're not up on the legend.

Wow hooked! Girll please tag me in!!! β€πŸ‘

@sjw @minxyMolly yay, I'm glad you like it lovely ladies 😁

And the YouTube is http://youtu.be/Wmhfn3mgWUI if anyone wants to watch Marbled Hornets. It is creepy as hell though.

Ok so I've watched intro and clip 1.. I may never forgive you for this 😱

@Burrfoot I know, I'm only about half way through but I have to limit myself as I don't sleep if I watch too many at once.

@Burrfoot it gets worse...

I've seen 'Ring'.. Watching this doesn't seal my fate, does it?.. I've no idea what it's about, but there now I was walking home and a tall skinny man in a suit walked past me with a face like The Scream.. I'm freaked out already

Okay I'm scared so tag me in the next one. Curiosity kills the cat....

@Burrfoot no πŸ˜‚ he's not gonna get you...at least I hope not. 😱

@chickgamer I'm scaring myself 😨

Hi this is amazing can you tell me when you post the next one please :)

To make matters worse, I told mrs burr, so we're gonna watch the clips together so she can hold my hand!! I also mentioned the man that walked past me and asked my son to confirm it.. He said he didn't see anyone!!! I swear on my life that's true 😱😨😨

@Hermione28 of course, no problem.

@Burrfoot omg really? 😱 I don't think I can watch anymore tonight, it's dark and windy and stormy and it's genuinely freaky. I'm going to include more background info and folklore in the next entries...

Grownig up in Germany, they told stories of Der Großmann (what slender ends based off) thankfully, they left out the bad bits (when a say bad, I mean bad) so mr. Slendy was scary, but at the same time brought happy memories, so when I watch marble hornets (scariest thing ever) I get very confused wether to feel scared shitless or extremely happy -_-

I swear on our lives. Never seen him before, I live in a village and no one else was in street and my son says he never seen anyone even though he walked right past us. Tbh, I almost scolded my boy but let it drop..

@TheArchetype I'd go for scared shitless 😱 And I've been reading up on Der Großmann - it's pretty bad. Everything I read makes me more scared. Eek.

@Burrfoot ok, scary. It's probably just a coincidence. Yeah. Has to be. 😨

@Irrational_Kimmi did you read the story about the child and his parent that went o the Black Forest?

@TheArchetype no I haven't, do you have a lonk

Link, lol

@Irrational_Kimmi no I don't, I can tell you it know it if you want ( it really sticks in your mind)

@TheArchetype go for it. I'm about as freaked as I can be anyway!

@Irrational_Kimmi well a father lost his son in a forest, after about 2 hours wandering he found a tree, and on each tree branch there was a part of his little boy, the father turns to get the police, but heard movement, he turned around and saw the tree was leaning more forward, he also noticed that it was very slim and human like, the ends of the branches, were the part of his boy was, seemed to be fist like. He started running, but decided to stop an look back, the tree know seemed to be more man like, wearing a suit, and all the branches were swaying at his sides like arms. Now, this man had no recognisable facial features... (I'm not going to tell you the next bit in great detail, as the description was very detailed

@TheArchetype and made me physically sick) so to cut to the end , slenderman force feed the man his own son, bit by bit, Organ by organ.

@TheArchetype uhh...no sleep for me tonight. I've read similar stories - if you search around pretty much every society on Earth has a disturbingly similar mythology. Makes you wonder where all the myths come from...you know what they say, no smoke without fire. πŸ˜±πŸ’€

This is soooooooooooooooooo up my street...hooked hooked hooked πŸ‘βœ¨πŸ‘βœ¨πŸ‘βœ¨πŸ‘πŸ’€πŸ˜±πŸ’€πŸ˜±πŸ’€πŸ˜±πŸ’€

Sounds wicked - tag me too πŸ˜‰πŸ˜Š

Oh lolling forward to this. Love all things ghostie, macabre and mysterious. πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™

@misslittleDHP @MrsS @eddie12309 thanks ladies, I'm a fan of all things creepy too. πŸ’€β€

I'm at clip #20.. Acting is a bit shoddy, but I'm suitably spooked and not enjoying outside with the forest next to us 😨

@Burrfoot it is dodgy in places, but good for a no-budget job by students! Still managing to scare me anyway...
