Letters left unopened,
Rocks that are left unturned,
In life there's times to leave things be,
In life, there are lessons we must learn.
To walk across mountains, and rivers,
I would do it all, for you,
But there comes a time when I think to myself,
If you really want me to?
To put this effort in with little reward,
To return home with a heavy heart,
No sense of belonging anymore,
Where do I even start?
To feel like any gesture, and words I say
They won't cut it, they won't do,
It deepens the scars I have suffered from,
By being there for you.
So if this is how we end then so be it,
I will be okay,
For a time will come when I look back on this,
With fondness, I hope one day.
