Keep "friends" at arms length

Try as I may
I can't figure you out
When I think that I have
I'm filled again with doubt

You lie
And you hide
And you fade far away
You're broken
And helpless
And drift through your days

You're down
And you're trapped
And so out of place
You're lost
And unsure
But impossible to replace

Let me heal your wounds
Let me kiss your scars
Let me in, let me see
Let me out from behind these bars

Let me be your friend again
Past all your locked up gates
Let me know what I once knew
Before it's much too late
