The yellow eyes of "It" pierced the darkness of that cold winters night like a lightning bolt in a stormy sky. At first I couldn't take my eyes off them, transfixed as I was with both fear, and strangely yet, curiosity.
This was "It". The monster that had terrorised and decimated my entire existence, standing before me.
The eyes began to move closer, the movement of the beast silent as it floated towards me. I winced, too frightened to move, to run, to survive.
And then all of the fear left me, and relief flooded in. All of the suffering, the uncertainty, the loneliness I had suffered over the last four years was coming to an end. I would be able to see my Mummy and Daddy again, smiling and beckoning me to join them.
The eyes continued moving closer, so close that I could feel the beast's breath on my face. But I was not scared. There was no reason to be scared any more.
I closed my eyes, and waited for the end. A smile crept across my face. I could already see my parents, my home, my old life, all there waiting for me. It was time for this madness to end, the way it started, the way it was always going to end.
With "It".
