I'm just a leaf.
The wind, he pushes me,
Across the cobbles, you see,
Oh well, I'm only a leaf.
I'm just a leaf.
Children kick me for fun,
Crumple me up, as they run.
Oh well, I'm only a leaf.
I'm just a leaf.
In your garden, should I be
You come out with rakes, which tear at me.
Oh well, I'm only a leaf.
I'm just a leaf.
This is what you may think,
But I work as Mother Nature's link.
I am more than just a leaf.
We work as one.
Draping beauty onto the trees
Keep them alive with sunlight, attract bees,
And so much more, I'm not just a leaf.
So show some respect
spare us from this grief.
It's not that easy,
Being a leaf.
