Kitty's leaning in to kiss me. She kisses my forehead. It tingles. Her lips start to get warm. Kitty's lips start melting! I open my eyes. Her face is melting!!! She starts drifting away. I try to run to her. I can't. Snakes are wrapped around my ankles, holding me. Stopping me from saving her...
I wake with a start. I'm covered in a cold sweat. Bad dream... I roll over, Kitty's not there!
"Kitty?!" I shout.
I pull on a jacket and burst out from the tent. I look around. I can hear someone singing. I walk over to the waters edge. It's Kitty. She's swimming in the water. I can see her... That bikini is a tad small for her! She's really good at singing. There's droplets o water rolling off her... Stop it!
"Kitty?!" I call out.
There's a squeak and Kitty disappears. Although, I can still see the water droplets on her. Its like I can see her outline.
"Kitty, it's okay, it's me. Jack!" I say reassuringly.
She slowly reappears. Wow she's hot! I can feel my face go red. Kitty extends her arm, holding her hand out.
"C'mon, the waters lovely!" she calls out.
I climb back into the tent and change into my swimming trunks. I jump in and swim out to her. We meet halfway. She splashes me just as I'm about to speak.
"Hey!" I exclaim.
She giggles and we both burst out into laughter. I splash her back. A water fight ensues. After a few minutes we stop. I swim over to her. Her wet hair is plastered to her head. Water dripping down onto her... Don't look! I slide my arm around her waist and pull her in. I lean in to kiss her. No seers around here.
"Oi! Kids! What are you doing?!"
Mr. Hughes... He's standing there on the bank. Interrupted again!
"Swimming! What does it look like?!" I shout back angrily. This is getting out of controll! First a deer, now this?!
"Oi girly! Come over here!" he shouts.
Kitty swims over to him. She gets up on the bank. He stares at her for a minute then, out of nowhere, he hits her! He punches her in the face! Then he grabs her hair.
"Stop being a slut and GET CHANGED!" he roars into her face. Teary-eyed, Kitty pulls away from him and runs into the tent. I start swimming to shore. Mr. Hughes is gunna get a piece of my mind. I get to the shore and focus my mind on him. But he's gone! Where'd he go?! Kitty comes out of the tent, puffy-eyed. She's been crying. Her cheek is bright red from where he hit her. I walk over and hug her.
"He had no right to do that!" I say.
Kitty bursts into tears. I hold her tighter.
"It hurts," she sobs.
I hold her until she stops crying.
"C'mon Kitty, let me see that beautiful smile of yours!"
She looks at me and smiles.
"There! I'll go get changed okay?"
I go into the tent and get changed. Kitty's bikini is left on my sleeping bag. She did look very good in it. I leave the tent. Kitty's staring up at the sky.
"What's wrong?" I ask.
"There's some crows circling above us," she says. "They have red eyes..."
"Weird, maybe they have some disease?"
The crows fly over and land on a tree. I throw a mind blast at them. They squawk and fly away.
"Hey Kitty, have you noticed that the animals around here are acting all weird?"
"Yeah they keep staring at me."
"And that deer, it looked rabid."
"Odd, hey, we should get a fire started and cook some breakfast."
"Yeah okay, I'll get some wood."
I walk off to fetch some wood. It's an uneventful trip and I come back with a big stack of wood. We light up the fire and cook some breakfast. It had been quite a morning.
