Chapter Twenty (The final chapter!)

I wiped my eyes and looked up only to see streams of tears running down Scotts cheeks and dropping of his chin. He was shaking. I'd never seen him like this.

I stepped towards him and wrapped my arms around him for comfort. He returned the hug.

I don't know how much time had passed, this room was timeless, but it felt like a long time.

Eventually we took a step back and looked at each other. Neither of us wanted to ask the other about the letters in fear of the floods returning.

We looked in the chest. The letters had been hiding trinkets off all kinds; old pendants; toy cars; pictures and Scotts missing phone. Scott took his phone. I picked up the photos and flicked through them.

"Wait, where'd she go?" Scotts voice startled me. I looked at him and registered what he had said. Then surveyed the room. She had gone. We stood there puzzled for a moment.

"You don't think... We imagined it?" I didn't know what to think and by the look Scott gave me neither did he.

We stood consumed in thought.

"Well I say lets go home, we'll finish tomorrow, we need sleep."

He took my hand and lead the way out. I didn't understand what had happened but I wanted a bath and dinner. That sounded nice.
