Chapter Ten.
Was it? Wasn't it?
It looked like her. The short curly brown-grey hair. The oversized glasses perched on the tip of her nose. Her locket neckless, that no one knew what was inside. The old fashion sense. Her eyes still a beautiful brown.
Yet I knew she was gone. Cancer took her months ago, after ruining the last 3 years of her life. She spent everyday in the hospital fighting a losing battle but fight she did. The doctors first said she'd only live 6 months, a year max but 3 years down the line she was still fighting. She was a strong woman. She had to be. For us.
I blinked and she was gone.
"What? Where'd she go? Scott what just happened?" I was panicked by the sudden disappearance. "Scott... Scott?" I grabbed his shoulders and turned him round, his face was as pale as paper, frozen in place. Glassy tears dropped from his cold blue eyes running down his cheeks and dropping off his chin. "SCOTT!" He blinked, his eyes looked vacant as if his mind had left him and was somewhere else.
"Th-th-that was G-g-g-grandma?!" Scotts voice trembled along with his body. I felt helpless i couldn't help. Hell, I felt like curling up in the fetal position and crying for the rest of my life.
His body language changed all of a sudden. He stood upright. Wiped his eyes and looked at me. "Right Xena we just possibly saw the ghost of our grandma, our keys are missing, and we have been here now for almost," he looked at his watch "6 hours." He paused to arrange his thoughts. "We can either call it a day and walk home, hoping that we find our keys tomorrow or we finish now hoping our keys turn up, or we do some investigating. Your choice."
Silence. I weighed up my options and took a moment to organise my thoughts. "Home. I'm fed up, scared to death, tired and hungry. Home sound nice. We can come back tomorrow with someone else. I'm sure theres a friend that wont mind coming with us."
"Deal! I'm beat i'll go get my phone from the kitchen and well head off."
He walked towards the kitchen. "God damn it! Great just fricken awesome."
"What now?" I knew something had gone completely wrong by the tone in his voice.
"My phones gone."
"Oh... Any chance you can leave it and well find it when we come back?"
"Sure..." He didn't sound happy about that but I knew he just wanted to get out of here.
I went to turn the door handle... Locked. "Where's your key?" I turned to face him
"On my key chain. Where's yours?"
"On my keys."
"But we didn't lock the door?" Scotts face turned pale.
"I know."
