Truth Hurts
Part Thirteen
-------Christopher's Point Of View-------
"Help! She's been cut at the throat!" I yelled, pushing my way past people.
Several nurses and doctors came running towards us, followed by a nurse with a stretcher.
"Put her here." they ordered.
I didn't want to let her go.
But I had to.
I laid her there, and they took off to the surgery room.
I turned away and exited.
I had a score to settle.
Mike was barely regaining consciousness after I had knocked him out the second time.
I pulled him out roughly.
"Son of a bitch!" I spat at him and punched him in the face.
Mike seemed dazed.
Half-walking and half-dragging him, I hustled him inside the hospital.
I went to the nurse.
"Call 9-1-1. This as- boy, was the one who cut her throat." I said, angry.
She complied.
Within a matter of minutes, the police arrived. They held him tightly.
I explained everything that had happened, right down to where he planned the murder.
I was angry.
So was Mike.
"You little ass-" Mike began.
"Shut up." said the police officer.
Mike suddenly realized what was going to happen to him.
He desperately tried to escape.
Wrong move.
They knocked him out.
"We will keep in touch Mr...."
"Sanchez. Christopher Sanchez." I responded.
He nodded and took Mike away.
I turned as a nurse called to me.
She gave me the news.
----------Lisa's Point Of View----------
I felt as if I couldn't open my eyes.
Too heavy, too painful, though the pain was fading..
I could hear a voice in the distance and a machine.
The machine's noise went Beep, Beep, Beep. But very fast.. I wondered why.
The voice though, confused me more.
"She's not going to make it." a woman said
"No! Don't say that! She will! I know she will!" came another voice, more familiar.
The machine's monitor went normal.
Christopher was there.
"Chris.." I whispered.
There was footsteps.
I opened my eyes slowly.
And there he was.
"Lisa! Oh god, Lisa! You made it!" he cried, tears in his eyes.
The nurse was muttering, but I couldn't make out what she was saying.
The nurse exited, leaving only me and Christopher.
"Why did he do this to you?" he asked softly.
"At first, he tried to get me to kiss him, but I refused. He kept trying and then he pulled out a knife. He told me to kiss him, but I refused. So he scratched me with the knife, on my neck of course. It didn't feel deep, but I bled so much, and he just watched me screaming..." I recalled, fear in my eyes.
"He also told me that he planned my mom's death. He planned the car crash.. I don't know why, but he took her away from me." I said, and I began crying.
"Sh, it's okay. Don't worry. You're gonna be okay." he assured me, lightly brushing my tears away with one hand and holding my hand.
"Hm...." he said suddenly.
"What?" I asked, curious.
"You..... Never mind. Here comes the doctor." he said, watching the doorway.
I turned my eyes slowly.
The doctor was smiling.
Christopher watched him closely.
"Good news Miss Selis. You can go home tomorrow morning, but you have to stay overnight. With NO guests." The doctor said, eyeing Christopher.
"I'm not going anywhere." he said flatly.
The doctor seemed frustrated.
"You have to-"
"No. I'm not leaving. Kiss your little hopes of me leaving goodbye. I'm staying here." Christopher said, angrily.
"I can call security." the doctor threatened.
"They can't get me out of here anymore than you can." Christopher snapped.
"I'll- I'll-" the doctor stuttered.
"Get back in the operating room, doc. You aren't going to see me move from this spot." Christopher said.
The doctor gave up, shrugged his shoulders, and left.
I just stared.
"What?" Christopher asked innocently.
"You're impossible." I laughed.
"No, I'm next to impossible." he replied, nudging me slightly, smiling.
"So you're calling me impossible, huh?" I asked, a smile on my lips.
"Exactly." he said, still smiling.
He leaned in and kissed me, touching my lips gently.
"Go to sleep love. I won't move from this place. I'll be here for you..." his voice faded out and I fell asleep, right by his side, hand in hand.
