No Title.......part 11

I haven't posted for a while so if you could give some helpful pointers that would be much appreciated!
************************************
(I have fast forwarded a tiny bit in the story as this part was playing on my mind the most.)

I found myself wanting to go to bed earlier than usual. The need to sleep had gained a gravitational pull and I longed to enter that strange little room again. Mum and Dad saw this as another disturbing sign of my "state of mind" and seemed to be on a state of high alert. Noting every tiny inflection, change of routine and minor abrasion as a confirming sign that I should not return to school after the weekend. I had also not really been in touch with Anya and a recent picture on line had shown some arty downwards shot with a shoe suspiciously like Nate's. I wasn't jealous, really... Just trapped and missing a true friend and honestly, some proper reality.

Sleeping now seemed more natural than being awake. Just lying in bed and gently letting my active mind uncurl and tentatively reach out for sleep sent me straight under. Marvellous. As before all the craziness I had often struggled greatly with falling asleep.

I made sure I had my watch on this time, climbed into bed and promptly fell asleep. I don't know now if it all kicks off as soon as I am asleep or if it is at a set time? An investigation for another time.

There. I am there. Here. The feeling is so distinct it threatens to overtake me. So I glance down at my watch, 1.28am, note the time and carefully look up. An orchard of bent and crooked trees surrounds me as if they are the bars to my cell. The trees are barely taller that me and their dark and aged boughs look almost grey from moss and years of weather. They scrape and crawl across the ground as if in crippling agony and it hurts to look at them. No fruit grows here and the soundless wind makes the leaves blow with an erie silence. I haven't been here before and I can't get my bearings, I need to get back to the room. When without warning, I feel eyes and I know they will be milky and horrifying. So I start to pick my way through the boughs and horrid little geriatric trees. knowing all the while that the only sign I will get that they are following is the sharp pecking peppering my arms. Quicker Cordi, I voice my concerns aloud knowing they will not be heard. And then they are there. Pecking and flapping against me, stinging and smarting. Till my soundless cries echo lost around the trees.

I daren't look, I just plough on through endless weaves of trees. Trying not to trip over knarled branches and roots. And then suddenly I am out, almost tripping because there is nothing there to hamper my way. My feet touch cobble stone and I can see the peculiar clock rise up above the roofs. It doesn't look too far and desperate to hear some sounds again I muster some speed and sprint off towards the pitched roof of the clock.

Locating the right house is easy, of which I am glad. As I had worried I wouldn't remember though how I know which house it is I am not that certain. It sort of shimmers but not directly and I hurt my eyes squinting to work out what exactly I can see. I reach for and turn the greened brass door knob, my heart throbbing with nervous anticipation and step inside. All appears exactly the same as my eyes sweep quickly across the peculiar mix of interior design, my heart however ceases to throb. Panic sets it to stone. My body tautens. I feel for a split second that I might actually wet myself in terror.
"Hullo, I've been waiting for you to find here."
I don't speak. I don't blink. Everything about me struggles with fight or flight. Trapped, I am trapped. And sucomed to my fate, I croak out a "hello".

Glad to see you back! This is enthralling, you narrate it so well. Why does Cordi have these dreams? And who is this mysterious character?? Will these dreams lead her somewhere? You keep us guessing!

@Forster love your comment! Have been to caught up with work to write but hopefully the bug to write is back now! Not sure about the answers to some of your questions but I do have an answer for who is in the room with her! Thanks@Forster!!
