Love You So: PART SEVENTEEN

The art lesson ended, and everyone wondered off to their next lesson. Nate walked out, with Mollie hot on his heels, linking her harm through his.
"I've got Biology now baby, so I'll see you later okay?" she said, kissing him and hugging him.
"Bye." he said plainly, before going round the back of a building, and looking back at me. I understood what he meant. I followed him, but I couldn't see him. I turned around, feeling confused, and just as I was about to head back, he slipped his arms around my waist and kissed the back of my neck. I closed my eyes to feel his breath on my neck, sending shivers down my spine. I held his hands that were over my stomach, and he whispered to me.
"Come with me, tonight. We'll go for dinner. Please let me show you off to the whole of New York?" he said, between kisses.
"What if Mollie sees? Or if she finds out?"
"One of my friend's owns a restaurant on Madison Avenue, we'll go there. I promise you it'll be absolutely fine. Trust me."
"I trust you. Okay, what time shall we go out?"
"6, so we'll be back early-ish, in case one of the teachers finds out."
"Okay," I said biting my bottom lip. I was so excited, and I didn't know how to react. "What shall I wear?"
"Anything, you always look stunning. It's quite an expensive restaurant though, so I'll allow you to decide." By this stage, he'd spun me round so I was able to look into his eyes, and have my hands resting on his chest. To feel his heartbeat again was the only thing keeping me from insanity without my best friend. I settled my head in between his neck and shoulder, and he stroked my hair, which was down today, and curled lightly. I closed my eyes and imagined what life would be like if this man was all mine, if Mollie was out of the equation, and if we could spend the rest of our lives like this.
His stroking stopped, and he took a deep breath in.
"Gorgeous, gym's been going on for 10 minutes, people are going to wonder where we are."
Reluctantly, I took my head off his shoulder, and as he squeezed my hand, we walked towards the gym, back to our lives as best friends.
As we walked last Biology, I couldn't help but smile. His girlfriend was in there, and I was with him. I was the luckiest girl alive right now, to have such a beautiful man on my arm.
We made it to the gym a few minutes later, and with a parting look, he mouthed "I love you", and we headed into our respective changing rooms. We were both swimming today, so as we changed, we both emerged at the same time, wrapped in towels to hide the revealing outfits we were both sporting. I went to talk to some of my friends who hadn't quite started swimming yet, but Nate dived straight in, his shoulder muscles tensing as his arms stretched above his head. His fingers pierced the water at a perfect angle, and the rest of his body followed, producing absolutely no splash. He then ploughed down the pool, putting his muscular body to good use. All the girls around me watched in awe.
"You're so lucky to be friends with him." one said to me, amidst the "oohs" and "aahs" from the rest of the group, admiring Nate in the water. As he joined the rest of his friends, I decided to swim too. I dived in, not executing it as well as he did, but then again no one was as good at diving as Nate. I then swam a length or two of freestyle, before stopping alongside him.
"Nice dive" I said, winking.
"Thank you," he laughed, "fancy coming onto the high boards with me?"
Nate was the best diver I'd ever seen, and it was a wonder why he hadn't been accepted into the US team, but nonetheless, I agreed. The adrenaline that you get when diving off a 10 or a 15 metre board is intense, and of he was with me it would be even better. We walked up the steps, him holding my hand at such an angle that no one could see.
This was the part I loved the most; when the tension and anticipation of the jump are building with every step you take. When we reached the top, he asked me if I wanted to go first, but I allowed him. He was a hard act to follow, but at least I could watch him from this vantage point. He did a handstand on the edge of the diving board, looked at me, smiled, took a deep breath, then he back flipped off. As I looked down, I could see his body spinning in numerous turns, until he positioned his body as straight as an arrow so he could dive into the water. I saw drag increase as he hit the water; with it parting as he entered, like the Red Sea in the Bible.
His head bobbed back up to the surface, and his golden hair was flooding down, pressed flat against the contours of his head, slightly darker than usual. He looked up, and shouted "Ready?"
"Sure" I replied. I walked across the board, and looked down. The adrenaline really kicked in, as I saw the many people watching from far, far below. Then I saw Nate, and everyone else went away. I leaped into the air, and did a forward flip above the board, before springing off again and turning twice before I pierced the water's surface. The cool water was a small shock, but the splash was minimal, and as I came to the surface, I saw Nate smiling as the rest of the group applauded. He came over and hugged me, congratulating me on my dive.
After two more dives, with an audience growing at the windows to the pool, Nate and I retired, and swam a few lengths on breaststroke so we could swim and chat.
"I'm so excited about tonight" I said, which made him smile.
"I'm glad" he said, before dipping his head under the water, and breaking the surface, with glistening water droplets falling off his face and hair as he emerged. We got out of the pool, and after hoisting myself out, and feeling his eyes on me at all times, he pulled himself out. His chest seemed more muscular and his abs seemed more defined. He caught me looking, and splashed water at me.
"I'll see you later, okay?" he said, heading off into the changing rooms, a group of boys following in his wake.
