Magical Night

This is a bit early for the season, but here goes! @maeheleneflynmolly

Ruby red flames leap at,
The red and white socks,
As chimes ring,
From the grandfather clock.

The children count the dings,
One...four...eight,
They reluctantly go to bed,
For it's getting late.

Sparks pop and fly,
Illuminating the tree,
The adults drink coffee,
Nothing seems unordinary.

Nine, ten, eleven,
Time to stuff the stockings.
Then trudging up to bed,
Listening to the clock's rings.

The coast is clear,
Observes the little beings,
As they make way for Santa,
A jolly song they do sing.

"Ho, Ho, Ho
Here's comes,
St. Nicholas,
Flying over the snow."

Scuttling to hide,
As a child tiptoes down,
He's confused,
For he thought he heard a sound.

Going back up,
Thinking it was nothing,
The little elves tiptoe out,
And again start to sing.

Finally finishing their task,
They vanish in thin air,
They leave no trace,
Of their bubbly affair.

Everything's back to normal,
The crimson flames dance about,
Then the crackling is silent,
And the fire goes out.

There's a rain of glitter,
Then a "Ho,Ho,Ho,"
A jolly old man cloaked in red;
Down the chimney he does go.

Moving silently but swiftly,
He sets the presents on the floor,
Then igniting the fireplace,
He hops out the door.

Ruby red flames leap,
Old Saint Nick is not in sight,
Sparks pop and fly,
On this magical winter's night.
