Gentle hands are curved,
Into a perfect rainbow,
Toes pointed, frozen in time,
My face is aglow.
The spotlight clicks on,
Soft music starts,
Proudly I lift my head,
My tutu sparkles like quartz.
Slowly I rise up,
One step, then two,
A spin, one turn,
Then a leap is what I do.
Dancing on air,
Spinning around,
My confidence builds,
I hardly touch the ground.
Twisting and leaping,
The music sings,
I glide through the air,
Flying on wings.
I soar through the sky,
And my tutu does too,
But soon I have to,
Bid the stage adieu.
As I come to a rest,
There's one silent pause,
Then I close my eyes,
And wait for applause.
I know why there's no clapping,
Even though how I have flown,
For I am in my room.
I am dancing alone.
My dream is to be,
A beautiful dancer one day,
Nothing will stop me,
Or get in my way.
