Story Sirens

Again I've stayed up late,
Because for my dad I'm gonna wait,
Well reading some poems here and there,
There's a distant ringing I hear.

And in the peace of night,
Eulogies break the silence and give fright,
And the flashing lights take over the dark,
Tragedy has left its mark.

There's still more sirens racing,
And in my room I'm pacing,
It's been a minute or more,
Someone is probably dead on the floor.

Or a fire is in full rage,
Because of a spark fallen on a paper page.
Or a heart attack to one so old,
All these stories the sirens told.

In a world like ours, be grateful,
Because so many people are hateful,
So love and cherish each day,
Because you'll never know what will come your way.
