Ghost

Floorboards moan under gentle footsteps as the stairs end. Darkness surrounds the hallway. Silence is a dark virtue as the rain lashes window panes.

He stands over his sleeping brother, blissfully unaware of his presence. Nothing but a cold breeze on his cheek, a shadow in the corner. A memory past.

A strange nostaliga passes through this lifeless entity as he flitters out of the room and into the hallway. Face to face with no reflection in the mirror, no more vanity, no more dull lifeless eyes staring back. No reflection.

Closing the bathroom door, as he does everytime at 11:30pm, he hears the rustle of covers and footsteps. A figure walks through him and turns the bathroom light on. His father. Another member of his greivance unaware of his presence.

Another lonely night. Another endless venture.
Another faded menory of a boy too young to die.
Cursed to wander the earth for eternity, still blessed with the same problems and misfortunes as life gave him. Death was just an illusion of an escape. It solved nothing. A slave to immortality, another preventable suicide. Yet just a shadow, a memory, a ghost.
