A total eclipse of morality....
What exactly is evil?
the quote I used to open this Is a quote from my RE teacher.
One day I asked him "sir what is evil, and do you believe in it?"
So I'm going to give my answer to these questions.
The easiest one for me to answer is do I believe in evil?, the answer is yes, I do believe in evil. But my view of what is evil is different to that of general society.
So what is evil, and what causes it.
What is evil?, that's a much harder question to answer than you think it is
The all powerful oxford English dictionary explains it as "profound immorality, wickedness, and depravity" and its synonyms are:
•wicked
•bad
•Ill
•Malign
And some other words I can't be bothered to type out.
But that really doesn't answer the question
Religion has many different views and ideas on evil, buddhism sees it as a weakness of the mind and a force that can be overtaken but Christianity sees it through sins and Satan.
We can't really use religion to answer the question either.
The answer simply is, depending on who you are, what you believe and where and by whom you were brought up, evil has a different meaning.
What causes it however is a much easier question to answer (for me anyway)
Some say money, some say poverty, others say evil Is the root of itself others say governments and dictatorship.
But Look what they all have in common, they all stem from society.
So that is what I believe is the cause of evil, society and people.
Some of the most vicious, violent and brutal murderers come from broken homes, lives of social disrespect and bullying and sociological pressures.
So that was my 316 (now) word Opuss about my views on evil.
