Chapter 1
BEING NEW:
Now terrified and terrorised I defiantly was dreaming. I bravely reached my hand out, then placed it on the horror's shoulder, it went straight through. Good. I am dreaming.
"Cleo!" my dad called "Alaskan high school starts early"
I sighed, grabbed my black, school bag and cream jacket, then ran down the stairs.
"Hiya dad! I don't want to go today, do you really know what it feels like to go into school on your first day? Everyone looks at you, as if you've just committed a dreadful crime!" I exclaimed.
"Sorry hun, you'll have to go. Did you email your mum this morning?" he asked.
"No, I'll do it later," I muttered, while grabbing my keys for my car.
My new, shinny car. It took around ten minuets to get to the school, I parked in a space next to a rusted truck, got my map of the campus out and started to walk around. "Right, science is to the left," I murmured quietly to myself. Suddenly, a small, muscular boy came running up to me.
"You're the new girl, right?" he questioned, opening one of his hands for me to shake "I'm Mark, nice to meet you!"
"Hello, I'm Cleo," I answered, shyly shaking his hand and returned to the map.
"You're English! Wow! You're accent to so noticeable, but not posh," Mark chuckled.
"Of course my accent isn't not posh, if you haven't guessed I'm not the Queen. I'm from Nottingham," I scoffed.
Mark nodded and showed me to my science class, before heading off to his art lesson. Yep, I really hate the first day of school, as soon as I walked through that door...to everyone else, I seemed a criminal.
" Hello Cleo," my teacher greeted me. "Just and sit in that empty seat over there," he added. I scanned the room for the space, even though I had hardly done anything yet, people were already gossiping about me. Slowly, I shook my head and walked to the plastic chair at the back of the white classroom next to a good looking boy.
I sat uncomfortably on my seat, fidgeting every now and then.
"Alright class, please turn to page forty-two in your books and discus the facts with your partners," Mr Grantham explained, loudly. I turned to page forty-two before turning to my partner, who was staring at a certain spot on the table.
"Fact 1." I said, looking down at my hard-cover book still.
"The big bang is preferably said to be true by scientists, what do you think?" I asked, tilting my head a bit towards him.
He cleared his throat an blinked fast. "I-uh...as an atheist, I believe it's true. I think. I'm not sure," his velvet like voice spoke.
"Oh, okay, that's cool, I believe it's wrong. But who am I to say? Anyway, we don't really know what happened in the past, all these books could be wrong," I sighed.
"Very true." he spoke through his clenched teeth, still staring at the table.
"Are you okay?" I asked, worried. He didn't answer. In around five seconds the bell rug and he rushed out.
"Hiya Cleo!" Mark waved at me. "How was your class?"
I shrugged
"Okay I guess."
"Haha, it's always like that! We have unsupervised study now. Do you want to come to the library and meet some of my friends?" my only friend said.
"Sure, that'll be nice!"
Mark lead the way to the library, me trailing along behind. I was thinking about the very rude dude on my class, why he wouldn't answer me, if he was okay...I tried to forget about it as soon as I saw Mark's friends.
"Hiya!" A pretty girl smiled at me "I'm Lola!" she said joyfully, her red waves bouncing around her shoulders.
"Hello..." I whispered, shy again.
Another girl grinned at me.
"I'm Vicky! I love your hair by the way!" she giggled, twirling my blonde, loose curls.
"Thanks.." I whispered again.
I met some other people, then as soon as I sat down and got my laptop out, I typed down...
MY FRIENDS...
Mark- understanding
Lola- likes to be called 'Lol'
Vicky- bubbly
Dan- quite loud
Sam- shy
After that I saved it to my folder and got out my science homework...
