.............................................................................Today is my birthday,
The 31st of Jan.
I asked my mum, to give my cheese in my roll,
But instead she gave me ham.
Not to worry, not to complain,
I guess everyday is pretty much the same.
I wore some bright birthday glasses,
Ones that really stood out.
They said 'happy birthday' on them,
And looked weird with a pout.
They're quite strange,
If you saw them, you may think they're lame.
School swimming on my birthday,
The worst of all.
There should be a law against it,
I'll write to the Head, named Paul.
Paul said no,
Well, at least I had a go.
Birthday's are great,
The gifts are nice,
The cakes are always good,
Being with your family has to suffice.
Chocolate cake is the best.
Better than all the rest.
But we do need to remember,
Those who can't celebrate their age.
Because of poverty and illness,
Their lives, marked out like a maze.
