Chapter 3:Getting Ready
I went back to the bathroom, stepping over my mess, and leaning back on the sink, looking at my face, leaning close, every spot, blemish, and flaw that made me imperfect calling out to me. Before I had too much time to dwell on it more, I picked up the wash cloth, wet it, and scrubbed off the remnants of the makeup I had slept in. I took a brush to my mass of hair, hearing the rips as i tried to tame the beast. I turned on the curling iron, ready to make perfect waves, I brushed powder on my face in even circles to cover what i was insecure about, I put shiny copper shadow on my lids, black liner on the bottom, and mascara on top and bottom. I took the curling iron to my hair, making it into those Selena Gomez beautiful waves. I went to my closet, stepping over the wreck, and pulling out a purple top and black skinny jeans, perfect. Just as I was putting my sunglasses in my purse, the door bell rang, that was Emma, I turned off all the lights, left a note for my parents, pushed away the sadness in the pit of my stomach, and left the house ready for a night with Emma.
Chapter 4: Shocker
"Hey....." Emma trailed off as we walked to her car, I opened the passenger side door, stepping in
"You heard I guess?" I said with a half smile
"Facebook" she said, furrowing her brows
"That's how everyone knows everything now isn't it?" I laughed sarcastically
"You posted it!" she laughed
"True," I snickered
"So you broke up with him?" she asked putting it in drive
"Yep, who wants a dirtbag for a boyfriend," I said with a shrug
"Leah I guess" she said as we stopped at a light
"What?" I said, heat coming to my face
She handed me her phone,
"Check Facebook,"
I went to Facebook, and looked, my post was at the top, it had 29 likes, and 20 comments, holy crap.
I looked at the comments, there were sorrys, good for you's, and one from Thomas,
b****
I looked at Emma, eyebrows raised,
"Go to his page,"
I did, and he was in a relationship with Leah,
"Someone texted me that him and Leah were together, I guess I didn't quite believe he would move on THAT fast" I said, in disbelief
"Well lets not worry about him tonight, let's go get something to eat, shop, and talk crap about girls who dress like sluts in the mall!"
"Sounds perfect Em" I smiled
I wonder if she could tell that that was fake?
Chapter 5: Dinner and a Mall
So Emma drove me to Applebee's, cheesy choice for a cheer you up restaurant, but it worked pretty well, then we drove to the mall where I spent all the money I earned babysitting last week on clothes. We then had ice cream and sat in the food court, making fun of the girls dressed as sluts. We saw some pretty Insane outfits, but when a girl walked by in a red mini tube dress with her lacey thong showing, caked on makeup not in her color and black high heeled boots, we laughed so hard ice cream almost came out my nose. When Emma yawned for the first time, I announced it was time to go home,
"All right, this has been super fun, but I have a GIANT mess to clean up!" I laughed standing
"It can't be that big!" she said laughing as she got up and began walking,
"No, there's clothes, broken stuff, and junk all over my floor and bed!" I insisted
"Where the heck did you sleep?" she asked bewildered
"In the middle of it, I kinda crashed after I killed a some pictures, and a cd and its case with a heel," I admitted
"Dang violent!" she laughed
"It hurt, he cheated on me with my best friend," I said looking at her
"I get it, but, I mean, with how much he hurt you, shouldn't you just, like, not care that you two broke up?" Emma wondered
"You would think so huh? But he hurts the most of all my breakups, after two years you think it's forever and then they go and throw your relationship away with another girl?" I said
"I kinda understand," she said quietly
"What do you mean kinda?"
"Well I think you would be so mad that you couldn't miss him at all," Emma said
"I was, that's why I broke that cd and ripped those pictures, but when I was finished, all I felt was sad and empty, I missed him, I missed our relationship,"
We were both quiet as we left the mall and neared the car,
"Thanks for this," I said breaking the silence
"No problem, you needed it," Emma smiled
"That's for sure," I laughed
After a car ride where we sang along to all the songs on the radio, she dropped me off at home, it was like 10 o'clock, and no one was home, no surprise, both my parents had two jobs that lasted until midnight or later and started again right after school started.
So as I walked into that empty house, that happy bubbly feeling I had had when I was with Emma at the mall and dinner disappeared, and was replaced by an aching emptyness.
Chapter 6: No One But My Earbuds
This feeling made me want to text Leah, badly, she was my best friend. But she helped in causing this problem, so I didn't want to talk to her. As nice as she was, Emma didn't quite understand, and then, there's Thomas, my once sweet and loving boyfriend, the boy I trusted with everything, who made me feel best when I felt terrible. But he caused all this pain. If only Gabby were here......So I turned to all I had left, my earbuds. I scrolled through my iPod, looking for the perfect song, when I landed on Should've Said No by Taylor Swift, it brought back memories, of random acts of kindness from him, all the forevers, and broken promises. I finally went back to sleep, wondering what Gabby would have done if she were still here.
