Insomniac

Somehow, I can't seem to sleep,
Can't seem to keep my mind in place,
For, every night, the clock stands still,
And, waves of heat fall on my face.
Then, when I close my eyes to rest,
The white shape always leaves me blind,
It crosses door and crosses thresh,
And drives me straight out of my mind.

I'll stay awake, stare at the floor,
But still my thoughts are on the door,
And still, my neck is turned in place,
And waves of heat fall on my face.
When I awake from dream-like state,
I'll sit and stare and simply wait,
I'll simply wait until my light,
Until the dark glows in the night.

At 4AM, the time is right,
I rise and fly out of the night,
Into the frosted black of storm,
Into the dark before the dawn.
The time is now, the time has come,
For time and I to fuse as one,
For this is why I cannot sleep,
The climax calls for rays of heat.
