Kindred spirits pulled apart
It's nothing new, two broken half-hearts
They don't understand, they just can't see
Their broken half-hearts weren't meant to be
They look for new half-hearts to fit their own
But their jagged edges are split and torn
They just won't fit with anyone they find
No matter how hard they try to grind
Along the way one half meets a whole-heart
And starts to tear it all apart
It spends it's time trying to jab and split
Until the once whole-heart is a perfect fit
Now they're two halves, one perfect whole
But something's wrong, it's all in the soul
This heart will never feel complete
The way it does when soulmates meet
The other half-heart still looks for love
Until it finds a half-heart that fits like a glove
It takes some time for this heart to discover
That although it fits, there's still much to suffer
Two half-hearts now filled with half-hearts of two others
Never truly fulfilled but not wanting more bother
They settle down, try to forget the joy
That only comes when two souls entwine
Both hearts really found true love by merging
In the end it was worth all the pain and searching
But two souls that should always be together
Mistook friendship for love and are split forever
