Shallow breaths form tiny clouds
As I breathe out; hang in the air
A chill as dusk begins to fall
Night's fingers trail like molten hair
I turn towards your glinting eyes
As you take my hands and clasp
You squeeze, your red nails digging in
Skin breaks, blood leaks, I take a gasp
I look at you, bewildered eyes
You smile and pinch me tighter still
I cry out in stuttered pain
But now it seems you've had your fill
Letting go, you smear my blood
On my face as angry tears
Then you turn and walk away
Into the night you disappear
And now I'm standing here alone
Stinging hands and waxen face
Close my eyes, fall to the ground
Returning to the other place.
