They say a picture paints a thousand words
And sometimes this is true
But a word can paint a thousand pictures
And can mean something to you

A picture has the power to shock
To give a reaction; quick
But words embed into your heart
Into your mind they stick

Words bring hope and joy and love
They build up dreams and tear down fears
Pictures are only temporary
They cannot wipe away the tears

Without pictures life would be dull
There'd be no colour, there'd be no spark
But without words we'd be blind
They are our beacon in the dark.
