I stare at the enterance to the maze. Once I enter, I may never leave. I gulp. Then square my shoulders and enter. It's dark. The stench of rotting meat is overwhelming. Arty slips her hand into mine. I blush glad of the darkness. I grope along the wall. There should be a torch somewhere. I can't find it. Draw my sword. Blow down its length. It ignites. Flames warming and illuminating. It comforts me. That sword is almost part of me. I feel along the wall. Taking every right turn. That way I can just reverse and find my way out. Arty clenches her hand. I look back. Something's wrong. She's clutching her head with one hand. Eyes squeezed tightly shut. Then it stops. She looks up. Eyes deep with fear. I grip her hand reassuringly.
Arty
He grips my hand. I try to smile but he's not convinced. I shake my head and keep walking. He catches up. "Are you ok to keep going." He says, voice filled with concern. "I'm fine, let's kill this thing." I say putting on a brave face. The pain is still here. Something snorts up ahead. I snap back to reality. Somethings out there. I see it's outline. Jerk Montys hand then nod in its direction. He looks back at me blankly. "The Minotaur, it's there." I say pointing now. He shakes his head. "There's nothing there." I look more closely. The 'Minotaur' is just an erie shadow. I shake my head vigorously. Trying to clear the vision.
Monty
The centre is approaching, I can feel it. That's not good. I hope Arty has time to recover. My mind begins to wander. It's the mazes atmosphere. It's hypnotic, dreamy almost. Then a massive gust of wind blows me into the wall. I thump into it. Cracking my head hard. The wind stops as instantly as it started. Leaving room for me to slump to the floor. Stars dance around infront of me. Distracting me from what's happening. I struggle free of the daze. I turn to see how Arty is coping. She's gone. I swear loudly. It echoes down the corridor. When I look back it's there. Standing over me. Threateningly growling. I jump back. My sword flies for its heart. The sword clatters against the wall. The image disolving before my eyes. I back up agains the wall. Eyes darting between every shadow. I get up, stumble on. Not even bothering to retrieve my sword. Images taunt me all the way down the corridor. Arty lying dead. My parents. Zeus slaughtering them. I break into a run. The wall blends into one smooth colour. The air is affecting everything I see. Then suddenly I'm at the end of the maze. The monsters lair. There lying dead in the middle of the room, their throat slit, blood pouring out, is the Minotaur. I take a step back. My foot catches on something. I fall to the floor. I look to see what it is. I retch, it's a skull. A bang fills the cavern. A bolt of lightning flashes through the room. He appears. Arty at his feet in chains. Magestic and terrible, powerful and wise. Zeus, king of the gods.
