Poppy Day

Vermillion, crimson, titian,
A reminder of the soldiers fighting,
The breeze coaxes them to dance,
The soldiers battle as if in a trance,
Their heavy, silky petals ruffle proudly,
The piercing sound of gunfire resounds around the battlefield;loudly,
Their emerald stems support the ample head,
Whilst the soldiers must plough through a carpet of the dead,
They bask in the sun,
The soldiers must run,
A confetti of special flowers scattered across graves- piled high on the mound,
Whilst blood of innocent soldiers stained the ground,
Poppy day,
To commemorate those who passed away,
Fighting for us...
