You don't know me,
Cause it's my mind that sets me free,
Thinking what you see is what you get,
But I'm so much more than that, you bet.
You think I'm boring, nerdy and too thick,
But that's my special trick,
You see just what I want you to,
So really you don't have a clue.
My covers strong, my skin is tough,
You don't like me? I couldn't give a stuff,
The words within me are what's real,
They're the things you cannot steal.
Your mind is filled with useless drivel,
Your brain cells have all shrivelled,
You are mush,
While we stay lush.
I could be romance or adventure,
Something that you might want to censor,
Biography or horror,
Maybe it features an explorer.
But you just see the cover,
So my secrets you shall not discover,
Cause I won't look good on a shelf,
You don't want to keep me for yourself.
You won't learn the secrets I hold,
Because your heart has frozen cold,
I wouldn't want you to anyway,
If you treat all of us this way.
We might just be books,
But don't judge on looks,
For inside we shine,
So read between the lines.
