Paper Planes

If our hearts were flown on paper planes,
Would they soar among the clouds?
Or would they falter, flail and break,
And crash towards the ground?

If our hearts were set out to sea,
Would they sail proud on highest waves?
Or would they splinter upon dark rocks,
And final breaths our sailors take?

If our hearts were turned to fireflies,
Could they light the darkest of times?
Or would their glow flicker and fade,
Until from the night they had to hide?

If we, my love, were torn apart,
Would we gravitate back toward each others hearts?
Or if I claimed my love for you,
Would you declare love back, voice untrue?

Are we raging fires or smouldering embers,
I'm afraid I cannot tell,
But if I called for you in bleakest times,
Would you answer back as well?
