So recently, at this crucial point in my life I have been wondering. I wonder a lot, in fact I live in my own little land of wonders - but this wondering is different. As the future looms and I find myself having to make life altering decisions, and I am unsure of which path to take; a path resulting in money, or instead to spend my life doing good for others and not worry about myself. Of course everyone has a stage of their life where everything is unknown to them, sometimes even to themselves, but I'm starting to dwell more on what it all means and how to become a "good person".

In my honest opinion, life is far too short to conform. I'm a British dancer who is emphatically in love with her ukulele. Have a tendency to be stuck in my own little world, so welcome to my Wonderland.

Hey, just do what you feel is the correct thing for YOU!! Don't be swayed or judged, it's your life, go live it how you want too and DONT have any regrets, the things you do, good and bad, will shape you.
@smellyfingers thank you, my parents disapprove of drama school, and I know it sounds very clichΓ©, but I've never wanted to do anything else.
@TheLittlestPiper have you asked them why they disapprove and have you told them what you want to do with your life?
You have to be happy in yourself to be able to do good things. Go to drama school if that's what you enjoy. My parents forced me onto a-levels I didn't want to do, I sat my mocks and failed spectacularly, then got to do the BTEC I'd wanted to do. A waste of a year!
@smellyfingers we've sat and talked about it and my mum said she'll support me, and my dad needs a bit of convincing, but they still want me to be a lawyer or something incredibly well paid. My argument is that it isn't all about money.
@TheLittlestPiper dads always need convincing, he just wants you to do well. Mum will talk him round ;-)
I really hope so :( I've picked up some work with a fairly new touring theatre company, and he wasn't best pleased x
I have been dwelling on good vs evil recently and the one thing you have to remember is that everyone is goods and everyone is evil. Everyone has it in them to do good deeds, but everyone has it in them to do evil deeds. Be the person you are, that is all you can be
@DrSurvey I agree. Being the best you is all that you can do. Parents are weird, they put too much on their children, try to make up for their mistakes and their own parents mistakes through their children. And often they still see their child as a child not an adult. As the lead singer of Snow Patrol often says "parents of the world be patient with your children." And as for being good, it is something I too dwell on regularly. But just, maybe by thinking this we will makes changes to be a better person. Not just for others but for ourselves..
It's very romantic not caring about money and yes, it's not all about it, but just keep in mind how important financial security is. Usually dreams and money don't go together but also there's no reason why you can't have the one without the other. And don't worry too much about it, somehow it all works at the (happy) end. Best of luck.
It's good to do what you want but your parents are only thinking of you and hoping you have a great future ahead of you. Try not to be too hard on them. Good luck to you whatever you do.π
