Your Shadow

We gather tonight, you and me,
In Earths darkest hour,
All helpless, kneeling before,
A terrible unyeilding power,

We grasp at straws, with both hands,
But our grip on life is weak,
We turn around, and flee the scene,
It is Eden that we seek,

We cannot run, we are too slow,
This barren land too open,
This place which we once called home,
Has been ruined, has been broken,

Yet whom is it that we run from?
The Ghost Of Christmas Past?
Or is it something much more sinister,
Too terrible to ask?

No, you know of whom you run from,
Who killed this land so fair,
They cannot be defeated,
Not by, hope nor love nor prayer,

So we escape from our hometown,
And soar into the skies,
We journey into outerspace,
And hope our enemy dies,

And from that point so far away,
Safety for our souls,
We kill our planet peacefully,
Safely, with remote controls,

We watch it all go up in flames,
We hear its dying cries,
But we shall never escape the terrible darkness,
Because it flew with us into the skies.
