Chapter 1

We still keep in touch with Cap, ever since our return, every Saturday. Only recently I haven't been seeing much of her, probably avoiding The Carruleus when they patrol the forest around Kaylyle. Sometimes I wonder how Lubrica is even though I'm really meant to despise her. Fortis was taken back in, apparently Cody and Lily were mucking around playing pranks and the family were devastated. When I say we I mean Fortis and I, because my mother, sister, brother and Fortis' family don't know what happened in the Frigus, Cinereo, how we met Cap and Vivos. They think we were taken into Cinereo for K.C.E (Kaylyle Citizen Evaluation). Our families received letters about this days after our capture and general Nigrum Frigus prisoners tests.

"Parva, get up you lazy bones" Iratus yelled at me from downstairs, "Your boyfriend has come to visit". Why can't I get just an extra five minutes,
"Hey" Fortis says poking his head through the gap in the door,
"Hi Fortis, come in" I say exhausted from how little sleep I get "Sorry if I'm grouchy, just woken up, take a seat" and Fortis plonks himself in the armchair at the bottom of my bed that he gave me for my birthday.
"What are you doing for the holidays? Anything special?" Fortis asks me,
"Are you doing anything?" I ask,
"No, staying home, you?" he replies,
"I'm lucky if I stay in Kaylyle for my holiday" I begin,
"Why?" Fortis says anxiously,
"Well we didn't kill Cap" I say,
"She's fine" he says
"I haven't seen her in weeks" I explain and Fortis stands up worried his thoughts riving with fear,
"What? Since when? How come you didn't tell me?" he shouted. Suddenly tears were streaming down my cheeks,
"Sorry sweetie, I didn't mean to make you cry" he whispered to me and hugged me but I just didn't make any sort of reply,
"Only if this hadn't happened" he muttered, "Then we would all be safe or at least safer".
"What? You wish that what happened in Cinereo and in the Nigrum Frigus never happened" I say "The few days I spent with you outside of Kaylyle were the most exciting days of my life and these past five months have been the most happiest and pleasant five months of my whole entire life",
"No, the most happiest and pleasant five months of our lives" he corrects me. Silence fell on us and I finally made eye contact with him
"Really!" say,
"Yes" he replies, then we enter silentness again until we are disturbed,
"Parva and Fortis sitting in a tree k-i-s-s-i-n-g. First comes the kisses then comes the marriage, then comes the baby in the golden carriage" Claudere and Iratus chanted at the door,
"Please stop it" I snap,
"Why?" Claudere asks smiling,
"Claudere you are thirteen, you are too old for this babyish behaviour, Iratus you are, ugh, the same age as me, so act it" I say but end up yelling it. This gets Claudere to go but Iratus comes in,
"Want to go hunting?" he asks,
"Later" I answer,
"It's fun" he says,
"Yes I know hunting is fun" I reply,
"No, not that" he says,
"What then?" I ask,
"You spend more time with me than with your precious boyfriend" he laughs,
"Shoo, shoo" I shout, get out of bed and push him outside. "I've got to get changed" I say and gather clothes so I could go to the bathroom,
"I'll go downstairs and talk to, someone" Fortis said and left the room. Ok, find something to wear so I empty the draws only to find three pairs of trousers, five long sleeved tops and the dress I wore in Cinereo. Suddenly to doorbell rings so I dress in the first things I find, brown top, tattered jeans, blacks socks and the mud caked trainers. When I reached the bottom of the stairs Fortis was staring at me,
"Don't stare at me like that" I say to him,
"Don't worry" he replies, "You'll be alright, I promise",
"Why? What's happened?", I ask worried,
"You'll be alright" he says again. He walked me down to the kitchen where my mum, sister, brother and, The Caeruleus were.
"Miss Clearbank, you have arrived, we hope all is, w-well" a Caeruleus member said but it wasn't Lubrica. "We saw you little friend, Cabioner, on the outskirts of Kaylyle when she is meant to be dead, can you explain that",
"First" I begin, "She is called Captionem, Cap-tion-nem and we let her survive",
"Why" the voice says and raises their hood,
"Wheres Lubrica?" I snap,
"Dead. I'm the leader now. I used to be Umbra the second in command but now I'm Umbra leader of The Caeruleus" he laughs, "Now, why did you let Captionem survive?" he says,
"We couldn't kill her" I say truthfully,
"No it wasn't we it was..." he says,
"Fortis" I say and turn to face him,
"You forgot the consequences if we found her alive" a small voice comes from one of the other members,
"Quiet Resonare" he snaps quietly at one of the members, "Yes, Fortis, remember the girl gets it. Cuff her". Resonare walks over and cuffs my hands and leads me outside with the other members following him.
"I'll go with her" Fortis yells,
"No Mr Hazelmere, we have no need for you in the Nigrum Frigus" another members said to him as I was led out the door.
