4.
I stay in my new room the rest of the day, personalizing it with the keypad on the wall by my door. I guess this old style manor's highly modern and almost ahead of modern science in technology. I choose black wall paper with hot pink stars and skulls, outlined in silver. My comforter matches the wall paper and my bed is a full size, dark mahogany, sleigh bed. There's a keypad by my closet so I can choose a custom wardrobe and I spend two hours searching through categories of tops, pants, shoes, and accessories. I've never had so much choice before, me and Mom didn't have a lot of money. A knock sounds on my door around 4 o'clock and I adjust my huge star necklace in the mirror, "Come in," I reply, the door slowly opens and Griffin whistles, "I like the design," he says, I laugh, "I do too. I like the closet too, Ive never had so many clothes in my life." He looks over my new outfit and smirks, "You're punk huh?" "Yeah, I'd say so," "I didn't expect that," "Yeah, most people say I look like a prep." "Not sure what that is, but I was going to say you look girlier than that," "That's what a prep is, Griffin. Haha," he shrugs, "I never came across that term in my studies." "But punk did?" "I've listened to punk music, which lead to the study of that type or personality and style," I nod, "You've had way too much time on your hands, dude." He laughs, "I guess so. I wasn't allowed outside the estate my whole life, so I only know what I've learned on the Internet and in books. The woods around the manor were my playground as a kid," "Weren't you lonely?" He shakes his head, "Not really, your dad kept me company. He looked at me like a son, even though I knew there was no way we were really related," "You make him out to be such a nice guy," I turn to face Griffin, crossing my arms. "You think lowly of him?" "I don't like how he let my mom tell me he was dead my whole life. It's like he ditched us and didn't have the balls to own up to it." Griffin shakes his head, "It wasn't like that, your dad didn't want you to be dragged into his business until you were old enough to handle it. You couldn't know about him, it wasn't safe." I shrug, "Eventually, I might be able to believe that, but right now, I just don't get it." Griffin comes to stand in front of me and takes my hands, "Im sorry me taking you here has been so stressful." I almost laugh, "It's ok. You were just doing what you were raised to do right?" "No, I could've disregarded the fact you were at the bus station this morning. I could've let you run away and start a life somewhere else. I took you here because you deserve to know your father. You deserve the life he can provide for you. I wanted to point you in the right direction,"
