I'm just a young black girl
Lost in this white man world.
The limitations inscribed for girls who look like me
Have been implanted for generations keeping us from us from being free.
They render us self conscious of our color
Convincing us we should be lighter.
We are vulnerable and they are aware
Therefor with disgust they glare.
Our thick strong kinky hair
We abuse in aspiration to look like theirs.
Our large noses, dark eyes, and ebony complexion
Attains us rejection.
Simply put I'm a young black girl
Disoriented in this white man world.
