Icy wind, like the devil's breath, Darkening skies, no sun to be seen. Birds fly South to avert their death, The midnight frost reflects the starlight's gleam.
Mist and fog smother the waking land, Commanding Ice coats the once-bubbling streams. A snowflake falls, and melts in the hand, The ground grows whiter than it ever has been.
As the snowfall grows stronger, A robin's song is overheard, It wished it hadn't stayed longer, The poor freezing bird.
As the clouds recede, The Sun shines through; A blinding yellow, On a dazzling blue.
A blanket of white engulfs the winter landscape, Snow; as far as the eye can see. Children awaken to play with their school-friends, And spread to all: Christmas Glee.
