I'm currently learning Japanese and I thought that a few readers might find the cross over from our native English language interesting and useful when visiting the Land of the Rising Sun. By way of example the Japanese word for clothes is 'fucu'.

You might say well why is that interesting and you would ask why which is 'doushite' or 'doughshita', for what happened. So if you want to ask a question you would say 'shitsuman '.

Very immature I hear you think. See you tomorrow is 'mata ashita'. The word toilet is not that different from the French word toilette in Japanese is 'toire'. The word for number 1 is Ichi.

So just to recap briefly, doushite shitsuman ichi fucu ashita doushita toire is perfectly acceptable language to converse in if you bump into the local Yakuza in downtown Fucuoka on a Saturday night and want to know where the toilet is for a number 1.

If you require a number 2 simply change the ichi for ni. If you require a number 1 and a number 2 its ichi ni .

Have a good holiday.
