A pair of black birds live in my garden
Never leaving each others sight
They bob between the bushes
Finding worms in the undergrowth
Together they built a nest against my shed
Finding twigs and moss to make it cosy
Their partnership is one of cooperation
They take pride and time to make it perfect
The female sits and watches the other birds come and go
The male brings her presents
I can only assume she sits on an egg
Soon chirping can be heard
Hungry mouths pop over the rim in anticipation of their slimy snack
Their parents cater to their every need
Never goin far from the nest
The mother somehow widens herself to fit them all beneath her
There are three chicks
The father always keeping guard
In no time at all the nest is empty
Now the babies hop around foraging in the foalage
The world beyond their nest amazing and full of wonder
Their parents look on proud
Soon they will have nests of their own
Their own children to protect
How sweet the lives of blackbirds
Committed, loyal and loving
