Superstorm formerly known as hurricane Sandy battered the north east coast of the USA last week and caused it to snow in some other places in the US of A and also Canada. The world sat and watched the devastation unfold on 24 hour news channels via TV and kept abreast of the events through twitter.

Homes lost, vast areas of land gone, aprox' 100 people dead. A flooded subway system, a Ferris wheel and roller coaster track now reside in the ocean. Millions without power, without food and water. It is horrible. That is probably an understatement.

Celebrities have launched campaigns pleading with their followers to help however they can, $10 donations to Red Cross and various other charities, food parcels and so on. They later tweet that their new album/film/clothing line is out at the end of the month. All innocent and coincidence of course. How will one of the world superpowers ever recover from this catastrophic event?. I don't know.

Wait, hold on. Remember Haiti?. Well that place got hit by Sandy too. In 2010 Port-Au-Prince was devastated by an earthquake. Do you remember?. Good. 2 years on and about half a million people were still living in temporary shelters. Intermittent power supply and meagre food rashions to survive on. This place was still rebuilding when Sandy hit. Rebuilding and dealing with probably the worst cholera epidemic you have never heard of. What about them?. About 50 people are dead. About 20 are missing, these are just the people that they know about. The temporary shelters... gone. Food rations gone. They were flooded too but they didn't have the subways and boardwalks that the east cost of USA are known for. They didn't have a Ferris wheel and a roller coaster by the beach.

Where are the celebrities tweeting for help for these people?. Where are the news channels with their cameras?. Why have they been forgotten?. Did anyone notice or are the people of Haiti not worth saving?.
