Well...This Is New - 46

Finally, we were off the phone. Immediately, he texted the group iMessage.
I started speaking Dutch to him, insulting him. He spoke back.
Sally had no idea what was going on.
Then, he said, "Sally, let's Facetime."
Another blow to my heart.
I switched from Dutch to French. He could understand some of it, just from common sense.
Finally, I went to my private conversation with Sally. I asked the one question that had been burning in my head ever since Valentine's Night.
"Do you guys actually Facetime like twice a week" I wrote.
Almost immediately, Sally wrote back.
"No!"
I stared at her reply.
Sally is not the type of person that would lie about that kind of thing. She knows how much I love Paul, and will tell me the truth about anything he says or does, no matter if it hurts or not.
It was...very hard to believe.
I looked at the "No!".
And a huge smile broke out on my face.
For good measure, I texted Heather, and told her what Paul said, and then what Sally said.
"Sounds like he's lying," she commented.
I shook my head, still smiling.
"Do you guys Facetime twice a week?" I asked.
"We never talk, honestly," Heather replied. "I can't even look at his face. I hate being alone with him. It's so awkward."
I quickly told Heather about his comment about not preferring me. How I was just "different".
"Em," she wrote back. "You're at the top of the mountain, Sally's at the middle, and I'm on the ground."
"You're definitely not on the ground," I protested.
"Well, it's obvious he values u over Sally and I," she said. "It's the truth. Everyone can see it."
"So why is he lying?" I demanded.
She did not have an answer.
"Does he not want me to believe I'm special, even though I am?" I wondered.
"You are special to him, Em," Heather said. "Specialler than me and Sally combined."
More confusion.
"Alright," I said. "Let's keep this little secret between you, me, and Sally. Paul doesn't need to know that we know he's lying. Let's just play along with this little game."
Heather agreed. She expressed her disgust at his actions.
"I can't respect him or anything he does," she said.
"It's okay, Heather," I said. "You, me, and Sally are going to get stronger together. He's doing crazy things...but we three girls are gonna stick together."
Heather grew very enthusiastic over that.
For the rest of the evening, instead of Paul and I, we talked together, about whatever we wanted. It was really nice...it made me forget everything for a little while.
Paul is in Canada now, which is going to allow me, Heather, and Sally some much-needed girl time. We're already planning a girls' night. We're all excited.
So something good is coming out of all of this confusion. Even though Paul is acting crazier than I've ever seen him act, I can find comfort in the loving arms of my girls.
The same girls that I always desert to go be with Paul.
Well, now the tables have turned.

Writing is my life. Forever. I want to be an author when I grow up. I write all the time. When I'm happy, sad, angry...it's an escape. Oh, and I love green hearts. I absolutely love them.
