Sally came in and hugged me tight.
"What's going on?" She whispered.
I told her about what Paul had done when she'd been in the kitchen. She stared at me, shaking her head.
"He's being a jerk, Em," she said. "I want to slap him."
Carrie and Paul came in, and we both shut up.
I sat down cross legged, and Paul sat next to me.
"Um, get away," I snapped, shuffling a few feet from him.
"What, why?" He asked innocently. "You don't want me to sit next to you?"
"No," I said firmly.
Paul grinned at me.
"Ugh," he sighed. "I'm tired."
He brought his head down on my lap.
"GET OFF!" I yelled, grabbing his head and thrusting it off of me. "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?"
He laughed, hard.
"Hey, Carrie, wanna see our house?" He asked, bringing out his iPad.
I closed my eyes.
"Ooh, sure," Carrie said eagerly.
I looked at Sally.
She opened her arms, inviting me to come close to her, and I hugged her tight.
Then, I took out my phone, and we began texting back and forth, completely ignoring the two lovebirds near us.
Carrie kept giggling, and when that would happen, I could feel my face tightening. I wished I could keep a more secure bold on my emotions.
"Carrie, can you come with me to my car?" Paul asked. "I wanna get the phase cards but I want someone to come with me."
"Sure," Carrie smiled, and they left together.
I closed my eyes, still holding my phone in front of me. I could feel the tears in them, the anger boiling in my heart, the hurt that Carrie would do this, the confusion...
I'd told her about the day before. About how he said he loved me. About how I didn't know if it was a joke but I was guessing it was. She had hugged me and had seemed so excited. Why was she doing this?
"I feel like crying" I typed to Sally.
She looked at me.
"Are you okay?" She asked softly.
I nodded. I knew crying would be silly. It would just show weakness, and jealousy, and stupidity.
"No, you're not," she sighed, hugging me close. "Em, he's being a huge jerk, and I don't even know why."
I kept my ears ready for any sign of Paul and Carrie coming back.
I sighed, closing my eyes.
Then, I could hear footsteps.
Quickly, Sally let go, and went to her phone, showing me funny pictures she'd saved from an app. Paul and Carrie walked in on us giggling up a storm. He smiled at me, but I ignored him, smiling at Sally instead.
Then, I looked at him, my smile disappearing. He noticed it, and frowned at me.
I looked away, grabbing a piece of my hair.
"Ugh, I have split ends," I said loudly, not meeting his urgent gaze.
"Are you mad at me?" Paul asked.
I looked up. "What? No. I just have split ends."
He scoffed. "You're mad at me."
He offered to play a game, and I declined, staying with Sally and looking at her pictures. Carrie immediately went to him and sat with him.
"I'll play the game," she said enthusiastically.
Me and Sally looked at each other, smirking.
"Em? Sally?" Paul asked.
"No," I said. "I want to be with Sally."
"Whatever I did, Em, I'm sorry," Paul said seriously,
"Shut up, Paul, I'm not mad at you," I snapped.
Me and Sally just kept looking at more funny pictures. We came across one that was too funny, and died laughing.
"Come down here and play with us," Paul said.
"No."

Writing is my life. Forever. I want to be an author when I grow up. I write all the time. When I'm happy, sad, angry...it's an escape. Oh, and I love green hearts. I absolutely love them.
