I watched the sun touch the sea,
Turning reddish as it drowned..
I warm myself and sip coffee,
Like a king who's just been crowned..
Yet I wait for the night to fall,
And The moon to light the sky..
I wait for people's sleep to call,
As in bed restless, I lie..
In the quiet of the dark,
Slumber is all that's heard..
Not a cat's mew or a dog's bark,
Nor the chirping of tiny birds..
I hear the rustling of the leaves,
And watch the shadows creep..
My mind lingers and further deaves,
When I call upon my sleep..
I turn to my ally then,
A page or two I read..
I drift into another land when,
I'm already fast asleep..
So every night I read a few,
In the calm of the still night..
I disappear into a land new,
Until the sky turns bright..
